About Us

Labry Wine comes from the heart of two committed wine enthusiasts, Ed and Kim Labry, whose mutual interest in wine matured during getaways to the Napa Valley.

Their shared passion eventually led to the purchase of four acres on the prestigious Bella Oaks Lane on the south end of the Rutherford Bench. In addition to Cabernet, they knew they wanted to make Pinot Noir, Sauvignon Blanc, and Rose’, which necessitated finding a world-class winemaking talent proficient in all of these varieties.
Winemaker Keith Emerson made the perfect fit for the Labry’s vision. Keith has seventeen years of experience working at the acclaimed Vineyard 29, producing old-world inspired reds and whites. Together with the Labry’s they craft small-batch wines of character, integrity, and passion. At Labry, Keith’s focus is on limited production wines spanning four distinct varieties and appellations. Sauvignon Blanc from Oakville and Rutherford, Pinot Noir and Rose’ from the Russian River Valley in Sonoma, and our Estate Cabernet Sauvignon in Rutherford allow our full focus on creating wines of purpose as opposed to wines of mass production.

The Rutherford AVA

In the shadow of Mount Saint John, our stretch of land that early settlers dubbed the “Golden Slope”, is defined by the deep rocky soils created by both the nearby Sulphur and Bear Creeks. This property was more than likely originally owned by George Yount after whom the town of Yountville was named and who made it part of his life’s work to sell and usually give away parcels of land to worthy friends and family.

We are situated just South of the famous Inglenook property. To our south, Harlan, Bond, and Futo hug the foot of the Mayacamas Mountains. The famous To Kalon Vineyard in the flats pressed between the Mayacamas Mountain Range and to the west Highway 29 marks our eastern borders.

We are honored to be stewards of this land and continue the great growing traditions of centuries past.

Nicole Dale
General Manager

Nicole fell in love with the Napa Valley during her first visit in 2008. A proper Hoosier, she had just graduated from Indiana University’s Kelley School of Business and was uncertain of her career path. Quickly thereafter, she made the move from her hometown of Indianapolis to pursue her career in the wine industry. She landed her first job at the historic Inglenook property in Rutherford where she discovered her passion for wine education and teaching visitors about the history of Napa Valley.

Prior to joining Labry, Nicole has dedicated her career to supporting small, family-owned wineries in growing their brands. Most notably spending eight years as the Marketing Manager for Barnett Vineyards, helping them to double their Direct-to-Consumer business.

To Labry she brings her expertise in sales and hospitality with the goal of expanding the program. Nicole lives in St. Helena with her husband Scott, also a wine industry veteran, and their two children.

Chief juggler and hat wearer is the best way to describe the role Kim has. Wife, Mamma, chief gardener, kid driver, event planner, and running the day to day behind the scenes on property keep her very busy.

After spending more than three decades in leadership roles in the payments industry, pioneering some of the most important technologies in the credit card world, Ed has found himself once again breaking new barriers, this time out west. He has found a way to combine and infuse his southern hospitality, pit master skills, and his love of wine by creating a “southern cheese plate”. Cheeto puffs and 3 hour smoked bologna logs are the centerpiece of the Labry charcuterie board. It has turned into a favorite accompaniment to our library of wines and a frequent request of our friends here at the wine barn.
